Dedicated e‑commerce engineering

Commerce,
built on rock.

Permanent engineering teams for storefronts that carry real revenue.

One team. The same engineers, month after month — not a rotating bench.

One system. We learn your stack in depth and stay with it.

One line of ownership. Load time, error rate, uptime — ours to answer for.

Position

Most storefronts don't fail on design.
They fail on what sits underneath.

A storefront is not a project with an end date. It is infrastructure. It carries your catalogue, your pricing logic, your stock, your payments and every campaign you run. Hand that infrastructure to a rotating cast of contractors, or to an agency juggling six parallel accounts, and you pay for it in outages and lost weeks.

Petra Commerce works in one model only: a fixed team that stays. The same engineers, the same architect, the same person to call. Reachable in your Slack, predictable in your monthly budget, and accountable for numbers rather than tickets.

Services

What a Petra team takes on.

Core model

Dedicated
engineering teams

Two to six fixed people — engineering, architecture, QA and a lead. Trained on your stack, priced as a monthly retainer, with no per-ticket haggling and no placement mark-up.

Replatforming

Migration without a revenue gap

Moves between Shopware, Shopify Plus, commercetools and custom builds — including data migration, a redirect plan and SEO cover through the cutover window.

Architecture

Headless, when the maths works

Decoupled storefronts on Next.js or Nuxt over a clean API layer — recommended only when the case supports it, not because it sounds modern.

Performance

Core Web Vitals, evidenced

Measured work on LCP, INP and CLS: render path, image pipeline, third-party budget. Reported as before-and-after field data, not lab screenshots.

Conversion

Checkout engineering

Payment methods, shipping rules, tax edge cases, B2B pricing — plus properly powered tests instead of gut feel and a colour change.

After launch

Operations, monitoring
and support terms.

We stay after go-live: alerting, an error budget, on-call cover through peak trading, and a monthly report your finance team can actually read.

Engagement

How working together starts.

  1. Phase 01 · 2 weeks

    Assessment

Code review, architecture map, analytics reconciliation, risk list. You get a written finding with an effort range — including when it argues against hiring us.

  2. Phase 02 · 4 weeks

    Team build

Staffing, handover, environments, pipelines, monitoring. From week three the team ships its first changes to production.

  3. Phase 03 · ongoing

    Operate

Fixed cycles, fixed cost, a roadmap reviewed each quarter. Cancellable on 30 days' notice, with a documented handover and no exit fee.

Where it fits

Three situations we're built for.

These are the briefs we take. They describe the scope of an engagement, not a claim about past accounts.2

Situation 01 · Replatforming

The platform has run out of road

A grown storefront on an ageing system: every change costs three days, the theme is a decade of patches, and nobody wants to touch checkout. We plan the move, migrate the data, hold the redirect map and run the cutover — with the old system live until the new one proves itself.

Situation 02 · B2B commerce

Standard software, non-standard trade

Customer-specific pricing, framework agreements, quotes and invoice terms — inside a platform that was never designed for them. We put a thin pricing service in front of the shop and build the ordering path your key accounts actually need.

Situation 03 · Performance

Traffic arrives, the page doesn't

Paid spend rising, mobile conversion falling, and a storefront that takes seconds to become usable on a real connection. We audit the render path, rebuild the image pipeline, put a hard budget on third-party tags and report the field data each month.

One we actually know.

Questions

What people ask first.

You're a new company. Why should we hand you our storefront?

Petra Commerce LLC was formed in Wyoming in July 2026, and we would rather say so than dress up a history we don't have. The engineering experience behind it is not new — the company is. That is exactly why every engagement opens with a fixed-price, two-week assessment: you get a written technical finding and a working sample of how we think before you commit to a retainer. If the finding says you don't need us, it says so.

At what size does a dedicated team make sense?

Usually once internal requests pile up faster than they can be delivered — in practice, somewhere north of a few million in annual revenue. Below that, a smaller maintenance arrangement is the more honest answer, and we will tell you that in the assessment rather than sell you a team you don't need.

What does it cost?

A monthly retainer scaled to team size, quoted after the assessment so the number is based on your codebase rather than a guess. The Phase 01 assessment is billed separately at a fixed price and credited against the first invoice if you go ahead.

Will you work alongside our existing agency?

Yes — that is the normal case. Marketing, content and design usually stay where they are. We take the technical side and the responsibility for operations, and we put the interfaces and areas of ownership in writing at the start.

Do we own the code?

Entirely. All rights to source code, infrastructure definitions and documentation sit with you, in your repositories and your cloud accounts. We do not introduce proprietary components that make leaving us expensive.

How quickly can a team start?

Typically four to six weeks after the assessment. If something is actively broken in production, we can place one engineer on stabilisation straight away while the full team is assembled.

Where are you based, and how do you work?

Petra Commerce LLC is registered in Wyoming, United States, and works remotely with clients in Europe and North America. Working language is English. Documentation, code and reporting are written, not verbal — so nothing important lives only in someone's head.
